Alex Jellici

Alex Jellici was born in Bolzano (Italy) in 1989 and started his cello studies with Luca Fiorentini at the Claudio Monteverdi Conservatoire of Bolzano, where he obtained his diploma in 2009. In 2014 Alex studied at the University of Arts in Vienna under the guidance of professor Robert Nagy within an Erasmus exchange programme. He graduated with the highest qualifications in 2015 from the University of Arts of Zurich, after studying in the class of professor Orfeo Mandozzi.

Alex works with several orchestras and ensembles including the Stresa Festival Orchestra, the Orchestra Sinfonica Haydn di Trento e Bolzano and the Streicherakademie Bozen. He is also in the contemporary music scene: he is the cellist and Artistic Director of the Ensemble TaG - Neue Musik Winterthur and he is a founder member of m0de, a project for cello and electronics that was born in 2014. An active musician in the early music field, he studied baroque cello and viola da gamba with Martin Zeller in Zurich.

Alex was a member of the European Union Baroque Orchestra and the OAE Experience scheme. He also performs with ensembles such as La Scintilla in Zurich, La Cetra Barockorchester Basel, Ensemble Corelli, Harmonices Mundi and Barocksolisten München. As a soloist and chamber musician with historical instruments he is a founding member of Cardinal Complex and performs with musicians including Stefano Montanari, Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Huw Daniel, Bojan Cicic and Roel Dieltiens.
